Damn Reflections

“I love painting clouds – but when there are no clouds my next favourite is probably reflections on water. This is a view from the wall of our main dam looking towards the horse float (which hasn’t moved for a few years) and the pump shed (which hasn’t pumped for a few years). In one of my other paintings I have two yellow floats in the foreground. These are supposed to suspend a water intake in the middle of the dam which then provides agricultural water for the garden – but the rope holding them in position broke and we haven’t got around to fixing it yet.

This was another of my small experiments with different block out styles. For this one I did a very detailed block out which I then refined with even more resolution and then continued to refine into the final image.

I originally titled this ‘Reflections on a dam’ but then realised I had a very similar title ‘Reflections on dam, Gundaroo’, so I changed it. They are both of the same dam from different directions.”
