Sergio Sill

Sergio Sill was born in Pola, Italy, in 1946 and migrated to Australia with his family in 1951. Early in his childhood it become evident that he loved to work with his hands - carving, drawing and painting. As a teenager he would escape Melbourne to venture down the rugged Victorian coastline and revel in surfing and his love of the wind, the sea, and the freedom nature provided.

After studying and practicing architecture for four years, Sergio embarked on a different journey enrolling in an Art and Design course at Preston Institute of Technology. In 1979, he set a Pottery Studio in Hawthorn Victoria, later relocating to Upper Lansdowne in the NSW mid-north coast.

His artistic passion continued to evolve and 1990 took him from the pottery-wheel to the easel. His love for the sea inspired him to move to Sydney's Central Coast were set up a studio/gallery in 1997.

Sergio likes to punctuate his painting with intermittent trends of inspiration from the wonders of nature and exotic lands where the eye, heart and soul find tranquility, joy, moments of beauty in stillness and transcending into a profound reality. It is these moments and exhilarations that Sergio aspires to capture on paint, pastel and mixed media to share with others.
